What’s the attire?
Attire for Sunset at the Zoo is summer chic. What is summer chic? For men – fun evening summer wear, coats optional. For women – fun cocktail attire. Animal prints and accessories optional! No blue jeans or shorts please. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
How far away is parking?
Complimentary parking is available in the parking structure and large surface lot. Valet parking is available in the circle drive in front of Main Admissions. Cost for valet is $10.
(Benefactor and Patron ticketholders receive complimentary valet.)
Can I purchase tickets at the door?
Is there a price difference?
Yes, ticket prices are $25 more per ticket if purchased on the day of the event:
- Benefactor – $775
- Patron – $350
- Supporter – $200
Is the event postponed if it is raining?
No. Sunset at the Zoo is a rain-or-shine event.
Are the animals out and can we walk the whole Zoo?
Guests will enjoy exclusive access to expansive and naturalistic animal habitats at the Zoo. All habitats and buildings will close promptly at 8:45 p.m. Please check the program on event night for additional details.
Will the train be running?
No. The Tauber Family Railroad will not be running during Sunset at the Zoo.
Can I rent a wheelchair/ECV?
Yes, wheelchairs and ECVs are available for Sunset at the Zoo. To reserve one in advance, please contact Nicky Heins at (248) 336-5858 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I claim my auction items?
Auction items can be claimed at the end of the evening inside the Events Pavilion, located just east of the Ford Education Center. If you are unable to stay until the end and won a prize, someone from the development staff will be in contact with you following the event, and arrangements can be made to pick it up at the Detroit Zoo.
Will cabs be available at the end of the night?
Please ask a staff member or volunteer if you need assistance with obtaining cab service. For Uber/Lyft riders, please follow signs for pick-up and drop-off location in the large surface lot.
